Red x on top of photo thumbnails

I have a coolicam 300 with emovie. I was able to use it using win 98se. Now I have windows xp NTFS and I'm not able to use my camera. Everytime I try to download my pics I get a red x on top of the thumbnails. No pic shows at all. I got a sandisk reader and still no luck. Can anyone help me get my life back? This is all I've been trying to do since I got windows xp is make this work. I've tried everything.
Anyhelp would be appreciated.

It seems unusual to me that you cannot download
from your memory card reader. Have a look at the
suggestions at the following link:
