fred

I have had the same problem as many postings have listed.
As I worked through all the steps in "Pictures are not
displayed on websites in IE" support.microsoft.com/?kbid=
283807, I found that under tab view, encoding, that my auto-
select was not checked. When I checked it (I had to use my
browser CD to install that option) then the page would
display the pictures. BUT the problem was back as soon as
I went to another web site or closed the same site and
went back to it. The site I use as my test is:
http://marsrover.jpl.nasa.gov/home/

It seems that setting of encoding, auto-select is not
being saved eventhough there is a check next to it.

Any ideas because I'm with others, this is driving me nuts.

I run IE 6 on WIN98

Thanks

I'm having the same problem (mostly with expedia.com), and none of the
fixes I've come across has worked. So I downloaded Netscape 7.1 and
here's the catch: the images won't load in Netscape either! So I
thought it must be a reigstry thing, but why is it just the majority
of the expedia.com pictures that aren't coming up? I contacted
expedia.com tech support, and the most recent instructions were for IE
5 in Windows 98 . . . even though I told them I'm using IE 6.0 and
Windows XP.

If someone knows what's going on with this, please let me know.
Thanks.

Images/Pictures

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
If still no joy then have a look at this page for other issues.

If you find any other issues, please share.

Can anyone read what I post and reply to it with something new,
instead of the same suggestions over and over??? (No, still no joy!)

I have already cleared the IE cache, I've set it to 80 MB, I've done
that and all the other suggested fixes 1000 times!

But all that doesn't matter because THIS ALSO HAPPENS WITH NETSCAPE
7.1!

So is this a registry problem? Should I reinstall Windows XP? I
really need to fix this, because this is causing problems all over the
place now!

Thanks!

The site I use as my test is:

Typo repair:

the images won't load in Netscape either!

There are some .jpg which may have been created by Photoshop there.

<title>KB817177 - Image Files Do Not Appear When You View a Web Page with Internet Explorer 6 SP1</title>

What version of mshtml.dll do you have?

Notice that you can get a version of that module which would supersede
the described hotfix by installing the latest IE cumulative patch.
Try visiting Windows Update?

Good luck
