red x instead of images in emails and newsletters

I am running xp svc pack 2 with all updates, office 2003 with svc pack 2
this just recently happened. I turned my computer off sunday nite and came
back to it monday nite and checked email pop3 and http (hotmail) and have red
x's instead of images, i have renamed all the cache files in outlook to
noavail.
