I have set up a web page on frontpage and then for some
reason that I don't understand some of the hyperlinks have
only a Red x in their location. On the left hyperlink
side it appears as only the active page has a Red x. On
the top of the page all of the hyperlinks have Red x in
the location where the hyperlink should be. I don't know
what I did to get here. Ideas on how to get out of it?

Hi Jerry,

Right click the "red" then properties where is the resource pointing to? If
it is your HD it is because the page was worked on without a web being open
in FP.

Mike: The properties brings up the child pages under home
which is what it should be. What is the HD?

Right click on the red X. Click on Properties you'll see a dialog that has
label Address (URL) what is the text to the right of that label? Does it
begin with file:/// if so then it is pointing at your HD. (Harddrive)

Mike: Sorry for the delay, my DSL line was down for a
bit.
All of my hyperlinks are to other pages on the web. Hence
there are no URL addresses. The Link Bar Properties only
brings up a box which has a general tab and style tab. Am
I still missing something.

Mike: I think I know now where you are going. When
previewed in the Browser, the red x is gone. The address
of the hyperlink which was red x now has a URL
of:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings....

Jerry,

Every link in your website between page or images is a URL. The only
difference would be if they are relative or absolute. A absolute URL is one
that begins with http:// or ftp:// or file://

The Red X means that the URL to the image to be displayed in this location,
broken, either the path (URL) is incorrect or the image was not uploaded.

OK Tom: I understand now, I think. My URL is a file://
and somehow I corrupted the hyperlink. I think the path
is OK because it seems OK when viewed in the browser, but
is not OK when viewed in Frontpage Normal. It may be the
image, but again that is OK when viewed in the browser.
If I have screwed it up somehow, how do I get it back so
that it works OK in Frontpage Normal?

Mike: The mystery is solved. I reviewed the theme that I
had originally used and reverted back to that thinking
that when I changed the theme I may have lost something in
the transition. When changing back the original theme the
red x's are gone. I have checked about 1/2 of the pages
and they all look OK. The remaining question is: If I
want to change to a different theme on a well developed
web, how do I do that without screwing everything up again.
