I have received some jpg file via email and all I see is the space for the
picture with a red cross in the top left hand corner.
I expect I need to adjust some setting. But which settings?
Thanks
Ray

If you're seeing that actually *in* the e-mail message, what it means is the
person who sent you the pictures did not attach them properly (usually
happens when people send mail from AOL's client, I've noticed).

The HTML code for the pictures, specifying the height and width, is still
in-tact, which is why you see the boarder outline of where the picture should
be; but the actual picture file isn't attached (or, if it was linked to a
picture on the internet, the picture is no longer available online, and your
e-mail client cannot find the file to show).

Ask the person who sent you the pictures to attach the files themselves,
instead of inserting pictures into the e-mail. Then you'll be sure to get
the whole files.

Thanks for that, Shawn.

Hello,

Yes, it is either a problem with the person that sent it didn't send it
properly, or perhaps your firewall might be blocking it (if they are a from
a domain that are related to ads). Along with that, applications such as
Outlook also block a couple of pictures and so on, but to show them in such
applications just right click and select 'Download Pictures'.

Also sometimes, if you right click on the image (in applications such as
Internet Explorer) and select 'Show Picture' you might be able to download
it properly.
