Which is basically a bunch of geezers flying high speed prop powered aircraft through an obstacle zone type thingie. You want more detail - look it up :D

It is quite a spectacle though, good fun, seeing high speed airaft only several feet off The Thames.

We got free tickets cos we be grocals ;)

Here's few pix, although I love my new camera to bits, I seriously need a different lens if I wanna do this type of pix, too much sky, not enough aaeroplane ;)

After it was over, we went to Greenwich Yacht Club (me mate's a member) from there to a good local Indian Restaurant, then to The Cutty Sark Pub and then home to bed.

A good day out, all in all :)

PS: They all been reduced from 3872 to 800 pixels wide.

Thanks for posting those Flops, I'd love to have been there so this will have to make do ;)

How close did the aircraft fly to you, were they really close?

Halfway across the Thames, basically. Not sure how wide the Thames is at Greenwich but I'd guess about 300 metres, so, 150 metres away at a guess.

They certainly seemed very close, anyway.

I was impressed with how responsive the planes were, very very quick in changing position.

And it seemed to me a lot depended on the speed they entered the 'circuit' - too fast and they had to fly wide, losing time, too slow and overall 'lap' time suffered.

They got a three second penalty if they flew through the markers too high and also if they weren't positioned absolutely vertically or horizontally where they were supposed to be.

They didn't get penalties, oddly enough, for lightly clipping the markers, which some of them did. And one guy actually collided with a marker, deflating it, he had to fly his round again.

The BBC have some pix Here that are quite good.

Great pix mate, I never did go i the end...... Shame.

Saw the same type of show in Bristol last year, amazing flying!
