red blinking taskbar button

Sometimes when I try to print from word the taskbar
button blinks red and nothing happens until I click the
button and close word. Then the print window appears.
What's wrong? I'm on an WIN XP home network. I have ~768
Ram.
 
I've seen a similar thing. I think the red flashing means that "A dialog
window has opened that needs your attention but it is currently hidden by
another window". In this case the printer dialog is hidden by the Word
window. You could try resizing the window instead of closing it perhaps?
