when a file is deleted or dragges to the recycle bin.
nothing appears in the recycle bin, although the file is
removed from the folder. what happened? thanks

I don't know why. The groups have had postings every day since then. You
are using the web page interface to access the newsgroups. Do you have IE
set to check for a new page every time you visit or to load a copy of the
page from the cache? This settings is found in Internet Options>Temporary
Internet Files> Settings.
 
You have corrupted your system files.
Try this it worked for me
Place your xp cd in your cd drive
Go to start
Run
and type in sfc /scannow
note the space between 'c and /
This will restore any corrupt system files you have

By nothing appearing in the recycling bin I suppose you double clicked it after deleting the file and saw nothing there

Right click on the Recycling Bin and then click on the Local Disk tab. Is the checkbox "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted" check

Also are your running some kind of 3rd party recycling bin program? Norton has something like that I think for Systemworks. Check with that software to see if there's a setting similar to the one above
