To remove the Recycle Bin Icon, you have to use a "policy." Type 'gpedit.msc' at the command prompt. Open User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Desktop. Double-click the Remove Recycle Bin Icon From Desktop policy, and select Enabled.
Your files will continue to collect in the bin, but the icon is no longer available on the desktop or in the Windows Explorer. Note, this will affect all users on the computer.
