Recycle Bin

Am new user of Windows XP prof. Cannot find "Recycle Bin"
on my Desktop. Am able to "delete" items but can't
figure out how to recover them if I need to. Any idea
why the "Recycle Bin" icon would not appear on the
Desktop"?
 
Right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Restore Default
