Recycle Bin problems

Hi,

I had this question in another folder (no answers - I don't know how to move
them - you can delete the other message), this one may be a better place.

Over the last month or 2 i've added a 2nd disk, and since then have replaced
the original boot disk.
I went through several attempts at the "replace the boot disk". I assumed it
would be simple, but Norton Goback doesn't work with the newer disks. Norton
Ghost wouldn't let me do a copy drive (unsure if that was the New disk issue,
or Windows licencing).
Anyway, I had to finally dump Norton Goback software (another great
investment)
Used the disk manufacturers drive copy. Now I'll wonder if any of those
Ghost backups are of any use at all?....

There have been a few problems since, mostly Norton software up to now....

Now for my problem:
The boot disk is 1 partition.
The other is 2 partitions.
I've noticed the recycle bin gets a message saying it's corrupted.

When I click on the desktop Norton Protected Recycle bin Icon I get
"Norton unerase protection could not be started"

All the Partitions have Recycle bins ending 1005, by the boot partition has 2.
s-1-5....-500 and s-1-5...-1005 and it also has the NPROTECT folder.

Has something gone wrong with all my switching in and out disks (trying to
get all this easy switch software to work), and I have an extra recycler, or
is this normal/there is often 2 of them, or is there 2 for
some Norton purpose?

Any ideas - What can I do to repair it? Are the recycle bins deletable, or
will the OS crash?

Also, if you don't know, but know of an active Symanetc/Norton help
forum?, let me know.

Thanks

When you access Recycle Bin a certain way, you will see the folders it
contains for individual users. A security /permissions thing - continues to
protect private files on a per user basis even in the Recycle Bin. The
funny S-1-xxx folder names represent IDs for each of the accounts that have
trash in the bin. This is all normal. The presence of a Recyled/Recycler
folder on each partition is to be expected and normal too.

Things may have changed since I last used Norton products but the easiest
way that I had found empty the NProtect folder was to use Norton's
Protected Bin. It has settings for all of this. Once empty, you can disable
the Protected Bin or uninstall this portion of their software. If you run
into trouble getting it to work with the folder on this restored drive,
check in at Symantec's online technical library to see what they suggest.

Or keep asking/searching about how to get rid of an abandoned NProtect
folder. Someone may show up that knows of a delete command or tool that can
get rid of it. I never had luck with that approach but have not allowed it
near my computer again for years and years.
