I did that a long time ago, and it doesn't help.

An interesting site, but nothing there to resolve this problem - only a way
to create it. IN my case, files deleted from other drives all work as
expected, but files deleted from the boot drive are immediately gone. It's
always been this way on the system.

This is only true for files deleted from the boot drive. One bit of
information that may be important is that this is a dual boot machine and
the other system (NT) is on another physical drive.

Have you tried deleting the Recycle Bin and letting the system recreate
it?
