recurring task reminders not coming up

I'm having a problem with reminders on my recurring tasks.
Here is an example: I create new task and set it to recur
every month on the 1st of the month. I set it to remind
me. When I complete the task this month, I click
on "dismiss". What's happening is the reminder box becomes
unchecked so the reminder doesn't come up next month. It
used to work. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a
setting set incorrectly? Or is it just not working the way
it should?
 
It's working as designed. You'd have to mark the task complete or skip
the recurrence (to activate the next occurrence) to get the next
reminder to come up as scheduled. If you dismiss the task, the reminder
is dismissed also.
