Recurring Meeting Event is wrong by 16 hours

I am using a computer with OL2002/SP3 and WinXP/SP2 to send an all day
meeting request (in iCal format, over the internet) to a computer (used by my
Wife, in my same home office) running OL2002/SP3 and WinXP/SP1.

Both computers are set to the EXACT same Time Zone and DST settings in both
Control Panel and Outlook.

Recurring appointments with my wife as an "Attendee" that are NOT "All Day
Events" work exactly as expected.

However, the "All Day Event" (starts at 12 AM and ends following day at 12
AM) shows up in my Wife's INBOX as starting on the same day, but at 6PM! It
then spans 24 hours into the next day at 6PM...

It is put into my Calendar correctly...

I have looked everywhere, checked all settings, checked for updates on
windowsupdate/officeupdate etc...both are up to date, with the exception of
the the receiving computer only having SP1 installed for XP.

Please don't tell me to check my time zone settings again, I know they are
set correctly in both OL and Control Panel on both PCs...

Thanks,

Scotty

Ok... so I won't tell you to check the settings one more time, but if you
want to fix it, you will check the time, time zone and daylight time
setting. The only other possible cause, might be server time zone settings.

Thanks for your reply, Diane.

Actually my earlier claim of 16 hours is actually 18 hours; my bad...

Is there a way to check the "content" of what is getting sent from my
Outlook so I can understand the point at which the schedule gets bumped 18
hours?

(...and what TZ is 18 hours ahead??)

Can you clarify "server time zone settings" in your reply? I do Free/Busy
checks against a Web Server (IIS 6/Win2k3)...other than that the only server
involved is the SMTP server.

Thanks,

Scotty

The server(s) that stand between you and the person receiving the event
(SMTP and POP).

Brian,

All seems fine there...

I think this is a bug; it only occurs with recurring appointments, all other
appointments work exactly as they should (at least for the purposes of this
discussion.)

All appointments get sent/accepted/rejected via SMTP/POP.

I hope someone can provide some insight...(very frustrating.)

Thanks,

Scotty

Hi Diane,

I have located the Bug for you to submit, if indeed that is something you
can do.

The issue is with the format of the message being sent by Outlook 2002; if
iCal format is used, the recurring All Day event is coded incorrectly (18
hours late.)

If iCal format is not used (vCal?) then the message is indeed coded, and
able to be processed properly by the recipient Outlook 2002 user.

TZ, DST and times were ALWAYS correct.

This was done after deleting events, making option selection, restarting
outlook and then resending meeting.

I have verified this on 3 different recurring all day events.

(Please ensure Microsoft takes feedback from IT professionals more
seriously, it will build better products.)
