Suddenly I can no longer open all of my recurring calendar items. When I try
to open them I get the "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs
to close" error message. Does anyone have any clues how to correct this?

if you close and reopen Outlook, does this behavior persist? First I would
try running Detect and Repair and if that does not work, then run the in-box
repair tool, scanpst.exe.

Milly -

Well, I may have opened a can of worms. When I try to start the Detect and
Repair function Windows Installer for Office 2000 launches, and then is
"terminated prematurely." How do I run the in-box repair tool?

So, the plot thickens further.... When I try to open the Options setting in
the Tools menu the program also shuts down. Yikes! - Steven

The in-box repair tool, scanpst.exe, can be found using Windows search.

What version of Outlook is this and how big is the .pst file?
