When the XP SP4 box reboots,
a message is displayed "Cannot find Q:\Setup.exe" (Q is the CD rom).
The computer hangs until I click cancel, so I can't re-boot the system
unless I stand over the computer and click cancel.

I have used msconfig, TeaTimer, and a third party product called
"StartED"
to remove ANY instances of this in the startup, yet, like Jason, it
keeps coming
back.

A) At boot time, where is this line of code - the one that
inserts "Q:Setup.exe" into the boot menu being copied FROM?
B) Who can I delete it?
C) Will a complete re-install be required?

Windows XP SP4? You mean SP3?

Anyway, if one is not too afraid of peeking into the Windows Registry,
run Regedit. Do an Edit>>Find for Q:\Setup. If the value is associated
with Run, RunOnce, etc., then it would probably be safe to delete the
word. As for other associations, use your judgement. Just remember to
backup the Windows Registry before attempting to edit it.

I'd recommend Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel
(http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml) for nosing around the various places
where things can be set to auto-start.

What was the last thing you ran from CD? It might be worth putting its disc
back in, see if that clears the message.
