Hi everybody
A couple of weeks ago, I reported a problem with a Canon S200 BJ
printer which gave an somewhat undefined error message when asked to
print.
The problem was easy to resolve just by holding down the Resume button
for 10-20 seconds after which everything was normal.
The thread is here:

http://groups.google.com.br/group/c...164c116e4a3?q=paulfxh&rnum=1#08ef1164c116e4a3

However, I now find that if the printer is inactive for long periods
(certainly 24h and longer) the same error as previously is sent and I
am forced to resort to the same straighforward solution which remains
equally applicable.
For print jobs sent within an hour (or possibly longer) of the Resume
button having been pressed, the print is carried out without error.
Has anybody any idea what might be causing this and what I can do about
it?
TIA
Paul

Have you checked all apropriate settings in the driver?

Hi Morgan.
Thanks for your reply.
Actually, I was unaware that there were changeable settings in the
printer driver.
Can you please tell me a little more?

About six weeks ago I downloaded a new printer driver from Canon and
installed it. Everything worked fine for about 4 weeks when this
problem occurred(refusal to print; error message says there is a
problem with printer mechanism--whatever that means!).
In efforts to remedy the problem, I re-installed the printer driver but
this made no noticeable difference.
Thanks to a suggestion from this group, I was readily able to get over
the problem by just pressing the Resume button for 10-20 seconds.

Thanks in advance for any further suggestions you might have,
Paul

Not software
Not ink

Check if any cartridge can be loose.

I have not seen that mess. But, it could help if you tell a Canon supplier
about that mess.

Perhaps google can tell or even the manual part trouble shooting..

Does this mean you are ruling out the "driver settings" suggestion you
made in your last post?

No, my problem is due to low ink levels.
Check if any cartridge can be loose.

No loose cartridges as it does print fine after I press the Resume
button without going near the cartridges.

Well, I guess that is always an option. However, my experience has been
that for a rapid, no-cost solution to the majority of computer related
problems, NGs are infinitely better than suppliers.
I prefer to leave the supplier option as a very last resort.
Because this problem is by no means a matter of life or death, if I
can't solve it I'll just put up with it.
Perhaps google can tell or even the manual part trouble shooting..

Yeah, already did those two. Interesting to note that the solution I
got the last time in this NG (reset by pressing the Resume button) is
not at all mentioned in the 198-page User Guide.

Best wishes
Paul
