I posted this query in the VB section but got ne replies.

I am converting an Access 97 app to VB 6 and wondered what is/are the best
controls to use to be able to recreate Access-like reports without the Access
engine.

The new VB 6 app will be installed on some older PC's, so resources will be
at a premium.

Many thanks.

VB6 has a reporting facility, but it is, indeed, more limited than Access'
reports. You should look into this, first, because you already have it. If
its reports provide you the data that you want, you'll have already created
some of them (to prove it is so).

There are third-party packages that are somewhat similar. I haven't used any
of these, preferring to do database reporting work in Access itself, but I
have seen some impressive work done with Crystal Reports by a colleague.
But, having used none of these, I can't recommend one.
