I do all kinds of dumb things. I had a Program titled Java 2 Runtime
Environment - I dragged and dropped it into the Recycle Bin to see if there
was any ill effect. When there seemed to be no problem, I unthinkingly
went ahead and deleted it from the Recycle Bin. The problem is that the
title still resides on my Add/Delete Software; how do I delete the title?
Any help will be appreciated.

Don't worry about. But you can use a registry editor or
some UI programs to clean up programs that have entries in
add/remove.
You can also reinstall Java2 Runtime and then delete it with
add/remove and that should fix your error.

You could select the item in Add/Remove and try to uninstall from there.
When folders/files belonging to an installation are found to be missing,
Windows may offer to remove the name from the Add/Remove list.

Alternatively, you could reinstall Sun's java (www.java.com). This would
recreate the missing files and folders. Then, if desired, uninstall the
program normally.

Why do you want rid? If you never view sites that use Java, why did you
install it in the first place?!

What business is that of yours, and how would the
answer to it help you to give this person a useful fix
for his problem?

I'm sorry?! It's a perfectly reasonable question. If you don't use something
why install it? I was just curious, that's all.

Who nicked your lunch?!

FYI, it was apparently installed, and left on my computer, as part of a
Compuserve setup that I had uninstalled. Since I don't have Netscape
installed, I saw no reason to have this supporting program. I have no
particular aversion for Java per se.
