Hi There!

We are using a Windows 2000 server, and with several windows XP clients.
Some important files on the server were deleted by network users, and the
worst
thing is we don't have the backup.

Please help:
1) is there any method for NTFS to recovery those deleted files?
2) or need some third party software?
3) can't MS do it?

Please help, i can't find any relevant docs in KB.

Thanks a lot!!!!

Miles

While I can't necessarily tell you how to recover your deleted files there
are some easy ways to make sure you don't have to go through this again:

Introduction to Shadow Copies of Shared Folders:

Thanks to JC, and Lanwench,

however,
1) shadow copies is only for win2k3, and i am using win2k server.
2) for undelete, it can only recover those files deleted after installation
of that software.

we used to undelete and unformat, in good old days of dos,
but now win2k even cannot recover the network shared files?
is that true?

Thanks for help anyway.

Are you sure undelete won't help you "ex post facto" ? Not sure if it will
on network undelete - I know it will on locally deleted files.

Win2k can't natively restore anything deleted across the network. Why no
backups?
