Recovery of corrupt-rooted hard drive

I was careless enough not to have yet backed up my precious data when I got a file system virus. I am currently using a 2 gig drive because I don't want to format the 120 gig one if I have a chance of recovering the data. Can someone help me fix the disk? I have broadband, a headset, and everything to make helping you help me easier via remote assistance.
I don't have any more room to store any more programs, so if you would help me temporarily store some data while I formatted the offending drive, I'd be most gracious.

How much data do you have to recover. You realize, of course, that you will
need competent hard drive space, equal to, the amount of data you plan to
pull off of the corrupted hard drive.

All the file recovery programs I have seen write the recovered files to
another hard drive. In other words, if you need 25 gig of information saved,
you will need a drive at least that size, or larger, to transfer the data
to.

I have used EasyRecovery Professional from www.ontrack.com to recover
extremely important data. The cost of the program can be applied to their
resident "drive recovery service" if the program you have purchased does not
do the job for you. Their service, and that of other similar services, can
cost many tens of hundreds, or even thousands!

I am certain that you won't allow something like this to affect you again in
the future!
