My Windows XP Home ed starts to boot. when the first three or four musical notes sound, the screen goes blank. After a few seconds of panic) XP starts over to reboot. Then I get a message that it's recovering from an error. MS was advises and MS replies that I had a driver error. How do I identify a bad driver. I think all drivers are software. and should be erasable and re-writable but I have no idea how to find which one is bad. If you respond, please do it keystroke-by keystroke 'cause I aint got any education yet. I worked on USAF SAGE system computers in the 70's withferrite bead memories and rotating drums that had 80 erase heads, 80 write and 80 read heads and 400 megahertz was too high for transistors but cut and paste is yet to be figured out. Thanx.

To identify a bad or conflicting driver go to
Control Panel | System | "Hardware" tab | Click on "Device Manager"
If there is a driver windows is seeing as "bad" it will have a symbol next
to it marking the bad driver.
Right click on the bad driver and click Properties.
You can either click the "Troubleshoot" button to run the XP troubleshooter
for that particular device and go through the steps outlined to try to fix
the problem or you can click on the "Driver" tab
There you can try ot update the driver or Roll Back the Driver which means
go back to the previously installed driver if there is one.
