http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_rec.htm

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q310994&ID=KB;EN-US;Q310994

Boot from the XP Home boot Floppies, which you can make from this Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q310994

It will accept a blank password after you boot from the floppies.

Good Luck.

Hi Abe,

You may be a victim of Sysprep, see:

Cannot Log On to Recovery Console After Running Sysprep [Q308402]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308402

If so, the workaround is to use the boot floppy set. You can get them here:

Home edition:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=33290

Professional edition:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=33291

Rick, I decided I'd make a set of floppies, so I
clicked on the PRO link you supplied, and when I
followed instructions, what appeared did not match what
the Release said would appear. I can save to hard
drive, but I was unable to save to floppies. It *said*
it was giving that option......but it didn't do so.

Hi Bill,

You save the download to hard drive, then double-click the saved file. It
will run and prompt you to create the boot floppy set.
