George B.

Just before my PC crashed, I did a complete backup of the
hard drive. Now, I have rebuilt the OS (Win98, 2nd), and
I am trying to replace the email folders and files within
Outlook Express.

I have the original files, and I was able to import the
old Contact files, but I cannot seem to restore the email
folders and files.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thank you for any and all help!

Hi George...

I just went through the same thing. If you go to one of
your folders in OE (i.e., Inbox, Oubox, Deleted, Sent,
etc.) and right click, go to Properties. The Properties
window will you give you the file path of all your
archives.

Then do an import from your OE File menu. GO to
File/Import/Messages which should allow you to select what
version of OE you will import from. Once selected, it
should allow you to browse the file location from where
your folders will come, which is what you identified
earlier.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Terry. Actually, my problem was a little
bigger: OE wasn't importing the files as I knew where to
import from and how to use the wizard.

But thanks to your message, you made me think about the
properties of the files, which OE sets to READ ONLY and
ARCHIVE. By removing the check boxes for the folder
files, and importing them as from a different MAIL Store
in the OE Import Wizard, it brought the files in just
fine.

THANK YOU for the illuminating idea!
