Recovering Multi-Boot Menu

Ok, first off, i'm not really sure if this the right forum to post, but
since i primarily used XP...in the booting process...
Anyway, my PC is on triple-booted to the following OS (WinXP, Win2000 &
Win98) which worked fine, until awhile ago...
my Win98 sorta crashed - Invalid System Disk something..anyways, I was able
to "fix" it on my own (very quickly i might add)...or so i thought...by
running start-up disk and doing a SYS C (as instructed by the helpfile)..and
it worked, I was able to fully recover my Win98...only Win98 :(

.....but the sad part, (very sad indeed), i soon discovered that I was just
booting ONLY on Win98, my boot menu is gone..kaput, i'm unable to choose the
other OSes :( I know it's still there though..(God, I hope it's still there
:(...Ok, is there an "easy" (ok,maybe not easy but just simple) way to
recover just the boot menu??? I have some ideas...but i'm very scared to try
it out anymore until I get suggestions...(the last do-it-by myself fix
didn't turn out well..)

Thanks!

Hi,

Relax, it's a fairly "easy" fix. Boot the WinXP CD, load the Recovery
Console, run bootcfg /rebuild from the command prompt to reload the XP boot
loader (doing SYS C: overwrote it with 9x code).

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]

Thanks Mr. Nutcase :)

I think I'm beginning to become one too :) "Losing" 2 OSes (WinXP and
Win2000) in one go ain't that fun.
So, this whole recovery thing all seems to point to my getting hold of my
WinXP cd...something which is not "fairly" easy to do right now :( ..or
ever. Is there any other option??

btw, will it also recover my Win2000??

But hey, thanks a lot, it made me a little less "nutty"...

Hi,

Yes, it will recover the Win2000 boot as well, that's part of what the
/rebuild parameter does, it iterates through the various installations and
adds them to the boot menu.
