when the main hard disk fails the system does not boot
from the mirrored hard disk. How do I access the boot.ini
file and edit to boot from the system partition.
Also unable to locate the boot.ini file in the root
directory. Please advise.

Create a bootable floppy, by formatting a floppy from within (another?)
Win2000 computer, and copy the files boot.ini, ntdetect.com, ntldr and
possibly ntbootdd.sys (if it exists in C:\ on the original system).

You will need to edit the ARC path in boot.ini to point towards your
working disk. This MS Knowledge Base article describes how the ARC path
works:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=102873

To access boot.ini, open a command prompt and change directory to C:\, then
type "attrib -r -h -s boot.ini". The file should now be visible.

Best regards
