I deleted a powerpoint presentation and emptied my trash bin; is there any
way I can recover the file?

I'm afraid you are out of luck. There are some utilities that can bring back
deleted files depending on wether you have not overwritten them.

Look in recent documents
or if you have system works from symnatec you can recover it
