I have recovered an old outlook.ost(outlook 2000) from a
backup where I need to get into the contacts folder to
retrieve some historical addresses. Since the backup, I
have reinstalled Outlook 2000 and am not currently using
an exchange server, nor do I have access to an exchange
server. When I reconfigured Outlook to support exchange
(working offline), and moved the .ost file into the
appropriate directory, Outlook tells me
that '...outlook.ost cannot be accessed. You must connect
to your MS Exchange server at least once before you can
use your offline file folder'. Any hints would be greatly
appreciated as to options to get to the contacts folder in
the .ost file. Thanks in advance. Tom
