Recovered from Serious error

From my re-formatted laptop, I again encountered while
playing a MPG clip that the Media Player froze, then 1 min
later, the entire WinXP (home) turned into a grey, white,
purple, BIG font, environment.

A window pops up saying "Your system has recovered from an
serious error".

This happened before and so I reformatted the laptop (just
in case). Both times, now and before, I had ZoneAlarm
and McAfee (& shield) running.

So assuming no viruses are on board, any light you can
shed on this problem? Solutions? Thank you!

Thank you for the link... However, I'm not experiencing
exactly what this patch will fix, I don't think...

Playing movie clip or mp3 (different ones each time),
MPlayer freezes, then computer goes black for a few
seconds, then comes back with the BIG FONTS and popup
window saying "Serious Error ...."

Did the computer already re-boot in this short time frame
of blackness? (<2min)

It doesn't keep coming back, as the link states, its just
whenever I play media files on Media Player.

I just downloaded that patch and actually, it stopped
installing itself because it said "You already have a
Service Patch that is later than this patch".

So I am covered looks like, but still am getting ERRORS
in Windows Media Player. :(
Please help, thank you
