I did a ScanDisk under DOS. It told me one of my logical drives had a FAT (FAT32) problem and gave me the choice of fixing it with making a restore disk or fixing it without the restore disk. Since it could still read the drive, I exited out of the program, to format a floppy that I could use for the restore.
Unfortunately, I decided to see what my Windows2000 Pro said about the drive..
I ran its file check. It said it had found files and were fixing them. (No choice). A 5 second screen scrolled by of files it was "fixing."
Now when I go to that disk, all I find are two files: File0000.chk, File00001.chk.
These files contain the "Recovered File Fragments."
They were all my Directories/programs before the Windows scandisk had at it. I tried, unsuccessfully to find a log of what the Windows Scandisk did.
(I wish I had used the DOS Scandisk. It gave me a choice to make a restore disk in case something went wrong.)
How can I restore these? (I do not know what to name the extension)
