My 7 year old PC's CPU is fried! Nothing is recoverable from the HD, but I
have all my files backed up with an on-line off-site company. I replaced the
PC with an iMac knowing that I can install XP Pro on it through Boot Camp. I
have an operating system recovery cd for XP with sp1, but Mac requires the
installation to have sp2. I can't simply install sp1, then go to the download
center and upgrade to sp2 for some unknown reason. My files are all
encrypted, and I can only decrypt them in this manner. When I log into my
off-site account, I can see hundreds of files and I know that everything I
need for XP sp2 is there, but I don't know which ones I need, and I don't
know how to "package" them together to download them properly. I would like
to avoid spending $200+ to purchase XP Pro with sp2 again when I already
have it! Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks!

Make/model of dead PC? If the XP license you have shipped with that PC, it
is very likely an OEM license and not transferable to any other PC,
including your Mac.

It was an MPC Millenia 545(?), aka Micron aka Zeos! XP was shipped with the
PC - I hadn't even thought about the license issue! I am still willing to try
it on the Mac. Any ideas?

Visit Apples support forums, we don't do Mac support here.

Or, easier than this is to just download the Windows 7 evaluation,
assuming your offsite backup company supports that?
