recover overwritten files

I saved a document on my personal laptop. I also had a file on my computer at
work with the same name. I thought I added the information from my file on my
laptop to my file at work and when I sent the file to myself from my work
computer and opened it on my laptop, I overwrote the file on my laptop. Is it
possible to recover my original file on my laptop?
