hi all
I am using access for about 3 years as a single user although I have already
started using the user lever security. Now , I wanted share the db with other
staff. so , I started this by sepletting db into BE and FE . the BE is on my
pc , in a shared folder , and i copied the FE to the other computer , and
linked the tables to both FE. but unfortunately i am getting the message "
this recordset is not updateable" on both of them.

I dont know what else has to be done to solve this.

now on both FE I can only view , but i cannot add or update.

please help

Actully , I have implemented and tested the above yesterday . but today ,
after posting the above I have retested , so , I found that the message I got
on both Pc , but on my pc , which has the BE on it , I can Add and update.
but the other pc not.

Check the permissions on the folder hosting your backend database. Users must have Read/Write/Create/Destroy permissions
on that folder.

You are right . thanks for help . I have seen the permissions and made the
changes you mentioned , which makes it possible to add and update from the
other pc

thanks again.
