We have a Access database having about over 1000 records.
It works well for several months. All the sudden, only 24
records show up in the database now. I do not know the
reason why this happens. The size of the database does not
change, it is still 5548 kb.

Any suggestion ?

Many thanks.

Yong

Unless you can repair the database you will need to check a recent backup
for a good data file.

IMHO

Try checking the DatasheetView of the Table and *make
sure* there is no Filter being applied and see how many
Records appear.

If there are still only 24, either Records have been
deleted or you might have corruptions in your database
(neither of these causes decrease the size of the
database). In this case, *make a copy* of the database
and do a Compact & Repair.

Have you got any recent back-ups?

I do not have the backup. There are still 24 records. How
can I do the compact & repair ?

Thanks again.

Yong

Once you have (the copy of) your database opened in Access, Click on Tools,
Database Utilities and you should see Detect and Repair on the menu. It
will prompt you for the source database and the name of the database you
want to compact it out to. You will want to be sure your drive has room
enough for another copy of your mdb file before you start as the repaired
file will also take up space.

Good Luck!!

Jeff

Thanks.

However, I could not see more records beyond 24. The size
of database decreased to 380 K. It seems that somebody
deleted the database. I may lose the records forever.
Right ?

Yong

I may lose the records forever.

Not necessarily. You could send your copy of the database sized 5548K to
PKSolutions, get their estimate as to whether or not they can restore the
records and their quote of cost.
