What are the Master and Child Link Fields? What are the Recordsource
properties of the subforms? Are the subforms totally blank - no
controls? If so, it may be that their recordsources are not
updateable: if a Form (subform or mainform) is not updateable and has
no existing records, it will go blank.

the master and childlink fields are customerId and the record source is
survey table and location query

That doesn't help me much at all, since I have no trace of an idea
what the survey table and location query might be. Why EIGHT subforms?
Wouldn't they be for eight different tables?

there were 8 tables but as i couldnt create on record of the information all
linked as there are too many fields i changed it to one large table with lots
of drop down related tables , then a form with subforms all related to the
customer . ie the customer information is put in then the forms are created
all in relation to the customer . the id of customer then date of , the
survey order number and employee id , name etc.

Let's keep it to one thread, Vanessa. See my reply in your earlier
thread entitled "new records in form and sub form".

Your choice to put everything in one large table with lots of "drop
down related tables" - Lookup fields - was probably a badidea and
probably the source of your difficulties.

Dropping this thread, will follow up in the other thread.
