I have split my mdb to mde and mdb_be.

I have assigned different permissions to managers and groupheads. The
security file is on the nework drive.

After distributing the mde file to the users requested them to map the
workgroup administrator to the security file on the network.

When logged in as admin there was no error. But when I tried to loggin
as a manager or grouphead receiving following error message.

"Records cannot be read; no read permission on 'Switchboard Items''

So when I go and check the security file from the mde it does not have
the permissions.

But when I click from the mde which I used for assigning permissions,
it is working.

Every tried to run from the new mde copy it is giving me the error.

Why is the privilleges being lost.

Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Are you opening the FE with the correct security file? Generally you would do so with a desktop shortcut on each
machine, with the Target set something like this:

"Full path to msaccess.exe" "full path to database" /wrkgrp "full path to workgropu file"

The workgroup file path can be a UNC path; the other two are kinda tricky, as they can be different on each workstation.
When logged in as admin there was no error. But when I tried to loggin

Did you use the same workgroup file to secure both the FE and BE?
So when I go and check the security file from the mde it does not have
the permissions.

I'm assuming the Switchboar Items table is in the backend? If so, have your verified that the permissions are correct in
THAT file?
But when I click from the mde which I used for assigning permissions,
it is working.
