I'd love to be able to do something that a friend does
with WebTV. He occasionally posts vid captures and
enhances the picture by attaching the accompanying sound bite.
All he has to do is hit "record" on his WebTV thingy, and he
gets a .wav file....usually 25-50seconds.

I have read every post regarding Audio Capture on this NG,
and have even downloaded DVD Audio Extractor..Sound Grab
and Audacity, plus StepVoice Recorder. However, I cannot seem
to find a simple record-on-the-fly utility. I was able to record
with DVD Audio Extractor, but had to record a whole chapter.

Any suggestions re a utility that would allow me to pause the
DVD at an appropriate point, and then hit "record" on the utility.
I'm thinking along the lines of "copying a VHS tape" kind of thing.

Many Thanks.

Get a WebTV thingy... like your friend... and then you'll be able to do
what he does with his WebTV thingy...

If I understand your problem correctly, dbPowerAMP Music Converter
with the Auxiliary Input extension will do it. Release 11 will create .mp3
files for a 30-day trial period, then requires a (pay) licence upgrade to
continue with that ability. Release 10.1 does it for free, with no
additional licence required.

No, but with VirtualdubMod you can easily search throug a VOB file and then
extract the audio of a sequence you can specify.
