I am having problems with the performance of Roxio 9 in so far that it very
often advises me that a CD is blank, whilst it contains files. I Format the
CDs and then either transfer/copy files from Folders in My documents or
directly Save As. When the problem first occurred I changed the Hard Drive,
but that did not help matters. I then changed the CDs I was using, but that
did not stop the problem either. Roxio's solution to this problem would
prevent me from carrying out Save As directly onto a CD. Would you please
recommend Software, which will perform the same tasks as Roxio, but more
reliably.

Why ask here? This has nothing to do with the OS.

Ask elsewhere

Find the correct place yourself. I would suggest the website of the
company that makes the software you are having problems with. That
would be a good starting place.

It is more likely that your burner has failed. In which case changing the
application won't achieve anything. Sadly, DVD burners seem to have very
short lives before the laser fails (they have a limited life, but should
last longer than they do).

As helpful as ever... And most likely wrong - as ever.

Shouln't you be in bed so that you're ready for school in the morning?

Hi, Many thanks for the only constructive answer to my problem and in
particular your previous posting for the "know all but know nothing"
individual. Just for information of all concerned I tried Roxio help line
and their solution to the problem is too complicated to be applied to Save
As in action repeated many times a day. I also changed the CD R/WR drive,
but that did not help either. I am at present contemplating switching to
Nero and would appreciate views on the reliability of their software for
this purpose.

I agree, but this is as close to a helpful response as I have yet seen
from "NoConsequence."

There is a freeware program called CDBurner XP that you may want to try
as an alternative. Works well for me.

Nope. Besides, I have to be at work before most kids get up to go to
school.

Ah! You've got a paper round. Then mummy should make sure that you are in
bed even earlier.

What do you do when you "format" the cd? Nero works well for me, but I
never have, and would even wonder how to, formatted a cd. Sounds as if by
doing so, it would be writing to it which may disallow further recording,
thereby showing zero room left, or maybe as blank. HTH, s
