I have the Radeon all in wonder 7500 and have not been happy with the
recording quality when taping from cable television. I've tried the
..vcr and the .mp2 type files with the custom recordings at the longest
capture times in DVD quality. The files are so large and the picture
has lines and pixels!!!!
Granted, some cable stations have some "noise", but this is
ridiculous.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

With a high quality DVD profile on my 8500DV, output looks roughly the
same as input. In other words, if I capture digital cable, there is no
discernable signal degradation. Which MMC are you using?
If you are using one of the 7.x versions, it's probably time to upgrade
to 8.5 or better. What's great about 8.x is that you can set the
profile to record interlaced, rather than de-interlace, which MMC really
stinks at.

With my Athlon XP1700, I use the following profile:

720x480, record interlaced, Motion Estimation Quality at 96%, Video Soap
at default.

Good Luck
