We have Powerpoint 2000 and a teacher on staff would like to record part of a
song from a CD into his Powerpoint. I have tried to record a portion of the
song by going to insert, movies and sounds, record sound, while playing the
song. All I can hear is static. I have adjusted the sound accelerator,
thinking it may be like the video accelerator problem, but that did not have
an affect. The teacher said that he was able to do this before, but I have
not been able to accomplish it. I can record from a microphone, so this may
be a work around.

Your going to have to rip the CD to get the song into MP3 format, then take
the song into a program like Audacity to fade it out where you want it to
fade, then insert it into PowerPoint.

You'll have better luck using a sound editing program to "rip" the music from
the CD and then edit it. Audacity is a good free sound editor.
