I recently tried to record a macro in my old Excel 97. Apparently Excel 97 isn't fully compatible with Vista because I found that whenever I tried I received the message "Unable to record macro". A host of help forums couldn't provide a solution but I found a work-around.
What I did was to open a workbook I had created when I still had Windows XP and which contained macros, clear the worksheet completely, then save the blak work book as a template.
From now on I only need to open the template to create a workbook in which I can record macros.
I submit this semi-solution in the hope that it will be of use to people with the same problem.
