I can no longer record from my turntable, even though I have a patc from
there into my MIC jack on te computer I am getting sound int the computer as
I can hear it through the speakers, however when I press the RECORD button,
the computer shuts down. This happens with any of 3 different sound recording
devises thatI have tried. I never had this problem until recently.
I can play back songs already on the computer, burn CD's, and download
music, but just cant record my 45's anymore.
Thank You.

Hi Jerry, thanks for your response.>
I have tried the Microsoft sound recorder that came with the computer, plus
I have been using a DAK WAV MP-3 Editor POr, both of which have worked well
in the past. I even downloaded yet another of the free ones a couple of weeks
ago, and still nothing. Both of the recorder work great on playback, however,
as soon as I hit the record buttn on either, BAMB, the comuter shuts down,
restarts, then tells me that the system has recovered from a serious error.

MS Recorder is complicated to use if you want to record more than 60
seconds. I advise you Audacity (freeware) :

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

If you get a BSOD what is the exact message ?

Try running your antivirus and SpyBot .

Also do a right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device
Manager > any yellow triangles against anything ?

Also run a Dx Diagnostic : Start > Run > tap in dxdiag > OK and run the
soundcard tests. If anything fails, update your soundcard drivers and
eventually your version od DirectX.

Thank You for several good suggestions, all of which I ill try today.

Unfortunately, I tried all of the above suggestions, ad still have
theproblem, even with trying the new recorder. When I pressed the record
button, after having my turntable plugged into the MIC jack on the front of
the computer, I gor the same message as before:
Your system has recovered from a serious error.
BCCode: 10000001 BCPI: 00162AA4 BCP2: 00000002, BCP3:00000000,
BCP4: F8748313, OSVER: 5_1_2600, SP:2_0, Prduct: 256_1

Then, when I click Files in error report for more information, I get:
C:\Docume~1|valued~local~1|temp|wer 43q.0
dir00|mini 080707-01dmp.|sysdata.xml.
