I want to use capture to take a photo but I do not have the option to change device from audio to video. How do I change to video?

what device are you using? If it's a camcorder then you need to connect via
firewire.

Exactly. Movie Maker has broken the file into clips and now I want to save a frame from the clip as a .jpg. The instructions say I can do this but every time I click on RECORD my only option is audio. I need to know how to change it to video so I can save a frame as a jpg

To save an individual frame from a movie file loaded into MM:

Click on the clip in your collections (Not in Timeline or Storyboard). Find
the frame you want in the media player on the right side. Click on the
Camera Icon in the lower right corner of the media player (Take Picture). A
dialog box will open and allow you to save it as a .JPG file.

If you do it from the Timeline or Storyboard you will have a lower
resolution .JPG file.

If you are going to do a lot of them, just save in the default directory
rather than changing path each time and then move them later where you want
to.

I am clicking on the clip but the only icon I see is a camera on the tool bar for RECORD.

Hello there,

Beneath the preview window there is an icon which looks like a camera (sort
of) It is next to an icon of a pair of sissors...click the camera Icon to
get your picture

I must have a different version than everyone is looking at. Next to the scissors is the copy icon. The only camera icon is the RECORD icon. And when following the HELP instructions that is the icon I'm directed to use. There is no other camera icon on my setup. Any other ideas???

I'm using Version 2. Perhaps you have version 1. This is what my help file
says:

To take a picture from video in the monitor
In the Contents pane or on the storyboard/timeline, select the video clip
you want to take a picture from.
Do one of the following:
On the monitor, move the playback indicator on the seek bar to the frame of
the video that you want to capture as a picture.
-or-
On the Play menu, click Play Storyboard or Play Timeline, depending on the
view you are working in, and then pause playback at the frame of video you
want to capture as a picture.
On the Tools menu, click Take Picture from Preview.
-or-
On the monitor, click the Take Picture button.
In the File name box, enter a name for the picture file, and then click
Save.

Hello there,

Hmmm, thats odd. It looks like a bad camera with a flash on top, and when I
slide the mouse over it it displays the message "Take Picture" Both Icons
are to the far right of the preview screen .

Can you confirm what version you are using.
