Did not want to hijack FBS thread so here is mine!

Wanted for a while to play all my vinyl so here goes!

And on the question of record decks, if i was to buy one what to go for?
Would need - record player/dab radio/cd player/amp & speakers?

Looking at Starter/Budget but with scope to build a better system as time & money allows.

I know not much about this but I know you can buy a record deck that connected to a pc that changes the anolouge signal to digital and can be saved to the C drive music file if that is any help. Quality would depend on your PC sound system.

You can buy a whole range of reasonably priced turntables with USB interfaces for recording direct to your hard disk using free software such as Audacity or Wavosaur, see this link here:

However, I'd recommend your minimum spec would be to start with a Project Essential 2 @ £209 and use an audio interface which will cost between £60 and £120. I use the Focusrite 2i2 which costs £100 and is excellent.

It may seem like a lot of money and you'll also need some connecting leads and a phono stage making the whole setup cost in the region of £400 but you will hear the difference and such a setup will last you a very long time.

Or you can spend £150 total on the Denon or Marantz total layout.

Your choice but how well do you want the vinyl you're going to convert to digital to sound?

And FWIW, and this is not some kind of snobbishness and it doesn't mean I'm a wealthy man but I'd consider the Project turntable and associated parts a budget starter set ;)

Good luck :)
