Hi Guys,

Can anyone help with this issue. I have a laptop running vista home premium
and need to connect to the office pc that has the BE database.

I can link to the BE if the office pc is not using the DB, however, when
they logon to the system I am looked out and my system freezes. I then need
to request the office PC log off the database so I can close my session.

I have the default open mode set to 'shared'

and default record locking set to 'no locks'

are these the correct settings or should it be something else?

Also...would it be better to create a replicated database rather than
linking to the database?

Regards
Lez

You and everyone else using the database need read, write, create, delete,
and modifiy privileges to the folder holding the database. Not just the .mdb
file - the entire folder.

People often experience problems connecting Access
over slow networks, or over radio links.

Also, Vista probably still has some SMB network
problems (Vista has a new version of SMB), which
will cause problems with Access.

We always suggest using Remote Desktop instead.
Can you get Remote Desktop to work on Vista?

Replication is designed for the this kind of situation,
but is normally more difficult than Remote Desktop to
set up and use.
