What is the easiest way to record a phone conversation on a PC?

I guess that would be a microphone used for recording them to any other
device but plug that mic into sound card. Either Line in or Mic in depending
on the impedance.
You probably more posts about the legalities than the actual topic.

If the phone conversation is on the PC or you have a
modem connected to your PC's sound hardware, you
could just setup the recording properties and use the
"Sound Recorder" windows has as an Accessory.

Tell us you're into terrorist activities and child porn then
have the Gov. do it for you.

Otherwise, easiest isn't with a pc, it's one of those old
tape recorders where you press record.

On a PC, select the recording line as the modem in the
mixer.

I thought it has a 1 minute limitation.

There are ways around that. (The simplest is to just
hit the Record button every minute.)

I like the way Audacity does it, and it has no such limitation.
Of course you have to download and install it, and the Sound
Recorder is part of Windows. (It's a tool already on hand, as
opposed to the better one "in a drawer, someplace".)

There are SO many free application for this project. One could have a
shortcut on the desktop handy enough to click. Many applications are bundled
into sound card SW. Burning SW will also have an audio recording
application. The list goes on. I like to use Nero Sound TRAX for recording
audio from any source.
