I have a fairly historic recording on cassette tape. Do I need special
software to get the image (in the form of a WAV file or whatever), onto my
HD? I am assuming a direct connection from to the Line-In of of my PC is the
only hardware required, from the the optical digital out jack of my tape
equipment.

Any suggestions?

Many TIA

Do you have 'Line Out'? The output level & impedence of a standard cassette
deck there is just right for feeding directly into 'Line In' on your
soundcard. Don't forget to check your volume control settings to make sure
'Line In' is not muted.
You'll need 3rd pary software to record, as the built-in XP rcdr is limited
to 60 secs max.

Use youre mic out on reciever to line-in on sound card,1/8 Y adapters for
some reason help alot-you'll be useing 2 audio cables from reciever to
computer.Open WMP9 series,locate free new player,click on it,instead
of the player, select, view all downloads, scroll from player to encoder.Use
thisfor recording,thiers no better.
