Ever since I installed WD, on Saturdays when I first bootup my computer my
internet connection FAILS and I have to do a System Restore. This happens
EVERY Saturday.
What's Up???

Hi,

Give some more info on what is running on your PC!

I turn my computer off when I'm finished. WD was set-up to scan at 2:00 a.m.
Daily. I just disabled that.

I have Webroot Spy Sweeper; Spyware Doctor; WD; McAfee Firewall and
Anti-Virus.

Is WD really necessary???

Hi,

a daily Quick Scan is a good thing, so i see no problem with WD at all.
Can you find somethings in the event.log, what is happening on Friday
night??

Were you able to figure this out? I loaded Defender, ran the program, and
then rebooted as instructed. Now when I try to log on to the internet I am
told that there is a "Repair Local Area Connection" problem - "can not renew
IP Address". Do you have any thoughts on this?

I take it that there was a cleaning and removal operation that necessitated
the reboot?

It would be useful to know, from the History screen--what was cleaned.

In general, the fix for this is to reset the Winsock. In XPSP2, this is
quite easy--go to a command prompt,. and

netsh winsock reset

and hit enter.

If you are not on XP SP2, use this KB article as a guide:

Excellent. Count this among the useful changes that SP2 brought about--this
process was more complex before SP2.

Where do I find the event.log?

Also, is there a way for me to see what is running in the Background? There
are times when I first startup my computer that I can hear my system doing
something that slows me down. I'd like to know what it is.
