I run a 3.0C on the same board, I see 28~31C Idle, and 49~53C Under
extended load (Prime95, Seti, 3DMark etc) most of the time, I'm about 37
or so, given general usage (3-4 browser windows, newsreader, few RSS
feeds, and maybe a music video/mp3 or two in the side media player :)

OK -- I might have a problem then. I am running at 48-51c under BIOS -- not
installed XP yet at all. I have a factory heatsink a rear case fan and a
side door fan. I also have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 installed and its little
fan is working as well.

Is this a ridiculously high temp?

No, typical "BIOS" ballpark temp. Probably be around 35c in XP when idle or
during low CPU usage. Nothing to worry about.
