I am not a gamer, but would like a dependable video card
for general use with my P4C800E Deluxe. ATI or
Nvidia ? I am having vertical lines with my card (AIW9700Pro) and
can't seem to resolve it. I've reinstalled drivers but no use.
ATI help desk is useless.
Thanks.

I use cards with nvidia fx5200 and 5600 chipsets on two P4C800ED machines.
They run everything including games just fine

I've got the same mb. Been using an ATI Radwon 7000.
No problems, no complaints.

One thing that appealed to me about it was the lack of a fan.

Is there a magnetic field somewhere near the monitor, like a fuse box? Have
you tried moving the monitor to the other side of the room, of maybe another
room?

The AIW 9700PRO was an extremely flaky card.
It was a problem from day one.
Mine lasted 6 months and others I know had the 9700 that died after an even
shorter period.
The 9700 was quickly replaced with the 9800
Send it back to ATI. They will refurbish it.

Have found the cause..I think. I took the card out to examine it and
found that I had mistakenly broken a component on the board. I can't
identify the component except that it has 1.0 and 1.6 written on it -
very small about 1/8 inc by 1/8 in. Looks like while I was replacing
the motherboard, I was careless with the video card. I remember I had
all the cards pilled up on my desk for a couple of days and kids
around.
I don't think ATI will fix it for free.

Try it anyway. That level of fix is a no brainer for them.
Was the card flakey prior to the accident?
